Women with an Appreciation of Agriculture
Carlee grew up on a beef and grain farm in Sturgeon County. She has always loved helping out on the farm, whether it be combining in the fall or pasture checking in the summer. Carlee thinks that the agriculture industry is a vital and rewarding industry; she is very proud to have grown up immersed in it, and can't wait to graduate and start working towards her goal of taking over her family farm.
Carlee is currently in her 3rd year of university, where she is working towards a Bachelor of Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science.
She joined Ceres in the winter of 2017. In Ceres she has held the position of philanthropy officer, and is currently the President and one of two Women in Agriculture directors. She is also in her 11th year of 4-H, and currently her club's parliamentarian. Carlee is also the Treasurer of the UofA Judging Club. Carlee is looking forward to watching Ceres continue to grow and get stronger as the year progresses!
Genna was raised on a small beef and grain farm just outside Rosalind, Alberta along with her parents and three siblings. Though not overly involved on the farm beside chasing and tagging cattle, Genna has a great appreciation for what being raised on a farm taught her, and that appreciation has only grown more since being involved with Ceres and the Agriculture Club. Genna is going into her 3rd year at the UofA and her first year in the Honors in Physiology program. Genna joined Ceres in her first year and was our treasurer before becoming our Vice President. Genna initially joined Ceres by living in the house and eventually fell in love what the fraternity stands for and has been an active member ever since.
Genna does not know what the future may hold for a career path but she is very grateful for the many skills, attributes, and friends Ceres has provided to her and hopes they will lead her in the right way.
Megan is in her environmental and conservation sciences degree, majoring in conservation biology. She joined Ceres because she liked the idea of being a part of a super cool group of girls with similar interests. Megan grew up in Calgary, Alberta and completed the first year of her program at Red Deer College. She enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and being outside. She looks forward to graduating and seeking out a career that has to do with environmental science, even though she is not quite sure what that will be yet!
Rebecca is going into her third year of Sciences at the UofA. Not only is Rebecca our Secretary, but she is also heavily involved in Agriculture Club. Rebecca has planned many events, ranging from Ski-trips to Fundraiser dinners. Her latest task: Planning Bar None 72 which is Ag Clubs annual fundraiser for Stars Air Ambulance!
ANNE VAN LOON
Anne is currenly in her third year of Environmental Sciences in Land Reclamation at the University of Alberta, she initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2016, and was our Alumni Relations officer before becoming our Treasurer. Anne is from Barrhead, Alberta. She enjoys horseback riding, baking and cooking, crafts, and outdoor activities. In the future Anne is looking forward to graduating.
Katrina is from Edmonton, AB and is going into her final semester in the Crop Sciences Program! When she isn't studying, you can find Katrina at the barn training her two horses, Luke and Yoshi.

She has always loved helping out on the farm, whether it be combining in the fall or fixing fences in the summer. When she is not catching up on homework, you can find her outside taking as many pictures of her calves and cats as her phone will allow.
Carlee thinks that the agriculture industry is a very important and rewarding industry, is very proud to have grown up immersed in it, and can't wait to become even more involved in the years to come.
Carlee is currently in her 3rd year of university, in the Animal Science program. She joined Ceres in her 2nd year and is now our Philanthropy officer. She is also in her 10th year of 4-H, and currently her club's secretary and her district's Key Member. Carlee is also the Treasurer of the UofA Judging Club! Carlee is looking forward to becoming more involved in Ceres and getting to know her sisters in the coming year.
Katey grew up with breeding Hanoverians on an old tree farm in SW Edmonton. Her first year out of high school was spent playing college volleyball in Abbotsford, BC. After moving home to Edmonton and the UofA, Katey joined Ceres in Fall 2016. She has now turned her focus to dressage and is excited to see what she can accomplish with her two mares, Sansira and Bella.
Kassi is going into her second year of her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Crop Science. She grew up on a cattle and grain farm SE of Westlock, Alberta. Her hobbies include helping out on the farm and snowboarding. Kassi was an active member of her 4-H beef club for 8 years and still volunteers frequently. Kassi initiated in Fall 2017 and is currently our Alumni Relations officer!
Chloe is from Edmonton, Alberta and going into her second year of Elementary Education at the UofA. Chloe initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2017 and is currently our Sisterhood Officer. Chloe hopes to one day own my own acreage somewhere in Alberta and teach elementary in a small town. Chloe says Ceres has given her the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and she is so happy that she joined!
Tyla is in her 4th year of a Bachelor of Science in Animal Health, majoring in Food Animals at the U of A. She is from Castor, Alberta and transferred to the U of A from Medicine Hat College. Tyla initiated into Ceres in the Winter of 2017 and is the Ceres Recruitment Officer for 2018. She has been involved in 4-H since she was 9 years old, and has been involved in beef, horse, foods, small engines, and welding projects. Tyla hopes to get into vet school after finishing her degree, and looks forward to being able to give back to the agricultural community.
Jessica is in her 4th year in the Animal Health program majoring in Food Animals, she initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2016 and currently holds the
position of Greek relations officer. She is from Chilliwack, British Columbia where she lived on a dairy farm for 7 years. This summer she held an internship at Cargill foods in High river as the Food safety, Quality, and Regulatory intern. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, reading, hiking, going to lakes, skiing, and boating. Agriculture is a true passion of hers. She believed that women in agriculture should be supported and celebrated.
Seanna comes to us from a small grain farm in Northern Alberta. She is going into her fourth year of the Dietetics Specialization program in Fall 2018. Seanna joined Ceres in her second year of school so she could meet people with similar backgrounds! Seanna is our Wellness Officer and does an amazing job keeping members healthy and happy! Seanna loves travelling and spending time outdoors.
Dana initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2016, after transferring to the University of Alberta. Right out of High School Dana spent two years at Olds College, where she was a part of the Women's Volleyball team and obtained a diploma in Agriculture Management. Dana was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta, growing up in the city, she spent every moment she could on her family farm, getting the best of both worlds! Dana got the opportunity to be highly involved in their families cattle operation before they sold all the cattle to focus on their hay operation, but Dana has full intentions of getting back into the cattle business once she is done school. Dana is now working to complete a degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science, and has hopes to become an Animal Nutritionist once she graduates. Dana is involved in volunteering at the Calgary Stampede, Classroom Agriculture Presentation, along with many other events to help spread knowledge and to educate about the agriculture industry. She is very thankful that she found Ceres, and is looking forward to continuing the friendships that she has made throughout her life after graduation.
Heidi Initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2016, and is taking Animal Science at the UofA. She is from Rimbey, Alberta, where she grew up on a family farm. In the future Heidi is looking forward to graduating.
Edith grew up on a dairy farm in Calmar, Alberta after immigrating from the Netherlands in 2001. She initiated into Ceres in Fall 2017 and is going into her second year of Animal Science. Edith enjoys woodworking, being outdoors, spending time on the farm, and hanging out with friends. Edith looks forward to getting more involved with Ceres so that we can keep it as great as it is!
Bri grew up near Sexsmith, Alberta where she lived half her time on a Standardbred ranch and the other halfon a "hobby" farm. She enjoys any work in agriculture or farming and is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. In her free time she likes to explore the outdoors or spend time with her family, including her parents and two little brothers.
Kayla is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Conservation Biology, majoring in Conservation Biology.
Agriculture has always been a big part of Kayla's life. Her family has a couple of farms where she spent her summers helping with the cattle and playing with the many animals they had.
Shannon is in her last year of Nursing at the UofA! Shannon grew up on a farm outside of Whitecourt, Alberta. She initiated into Ceres in the Fall of 2015. She likes rugby, and is currently on a rec-hockey team here on campus. She has one brother who is part of the FarmHouse Fraternity, which is where she heard about Ceres. She is now incredibly excited to be a part of Ceres Fraternity, and have her sisters!
Michaela comes to us from Red Deer! Michaela grew up cheerleading competitively. Nowadays, you can often find her at the gym working out.
Jaymie is going into her last semester of Animal Science at the UofA! Jaymie is originally from a hobby farm in Abbotsford, British Columbia, where she lives with her parents and sister. She loves cows, and has shown them since she was nine years old with the Abbotsford Beef 4H Club. She was with this club for 11 years, while at the same time playing soccer for 9 of those years. Besides Ceres, she is also part of the UofA Agriculture Club and looks forward to the rest of her time at the UofA.
Brittany is going into her third year of elementary education at the UofA. She initiated into Ceres in March 2017 and loves being a part of a group of such pleasant and like minded ladies! Brittany is thankful to Ceres for making the transition to university life so much easier because she knew she had a support group no matter what. Outside of school and Ceres, Brittany is a competitive curler on the Alberta Junior Curling Tour. Last summer, she had the opportunity to represent Alberta at the 2017 Curling Canada u18 Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick. Brittany can't wait to finish her degree and become a teacher. She hopes to teach grade 3 an help shape the lives of children. Brittany considers being able to make an impact on even one child's life, a huge success!
Sarah is an aspiring vet from Lac La Biche, Alberta. She is going into her last year of her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health, majoring in Performance and Companion Animals. Sarah is also on the executive of the UofA Pre-vet club and member of Agriculture Club!
Jayden comes to us from Drayton Valley, Alberta. She is going into her second year of her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. Jayden is also a part of the UofA Judging Club and Agriculture Club!
Chantele is in her 4th year of her Bachelor of Science and Animal Health program majoring in food animals. She is from a small town in north-western Ontario where she grew up competing quarter horses. Chantele joined Ceres to be surrounded with strong women with the same passion for agriculture that she has. Chantele does not know what her future holds, but she will forever be grateful for her Ceres sisters!
Bryanna is in her 4th year of her Commerce degree majoring in Finance. She grew up on her family’s farm near Athabasca and is the fourth generation to be raised on that land. Bryanna's family farm primarily raises commercial beef. Growing up, she was an active member in the Athabasca 4-H Beef Club and showed many steer, heifer and cow/calf projects. Bryanna's favourite part of the year is going hime in the summer and being outside with all my animals and helping her mom grow a huge garden. Bryanna decided to join Ceres after switching to the UofA from MacEwan as a way to make more friends as well as promote agriculture. Although she is still a new member to Ceres, Bryanna believes it has a lot to offer and can’t wait to get more involved in the upcoming year!
